Mark Mashburn
Mark Mashburn has over 25 years of direct experience in the real estate industry. Mr. Mashburn has been involved in the acquisition and development of hotels, office buildings, medical office buildings, retail and multi-family projects throughout the United States as well as the acquisition of debt. Prior to founding Blackpoint Partners, Mr. Mashburn was an Executive Vice President at Loeb Partners Realty LLC (14 million square feet portfolio). Previously Mr. Mashburn was the Managing Principal of SGI Advisory, Inc., a boutique real estate investment firm and a Director of United Park City Mines, a NYSE listed real estate development company. Mr. Mashburn has originated the placement of debt and equity, as both a principal and advisor, in excess of $5 billion dollars.
Saul Scherl
Saul Scherl is a real estate attorney and certified public accountant with over 20 years of direct real estate experience. Prior to founding Blackpoint Partners, Mr. Scherl, was a Managing Director at Loeb Partners Realty LLC, where he was responsible for coordinating the restructuring and management of several non-performing real estate loans as well as the firm's hospitality portfolio. Prior to joining Loeb, Mr. Scherl was a Director and General Counsel at Nomura Securities International, where he was involved in repositioning and restructuring over $1.5 billion of real estate assets. Prior to Nomura, Mr. Scherl was a real estate attorney at DLA Piper. Mr. Scherl received his B.B.A. in Accounting from Emory University and his J.D. from George Washington University.
Jack Hollihan
Jack Hollihan has 30 plus years of financial advisory and restructuring investment banking, as well as direct investment, experience. His background includes being head of European investment banking for Banc of America Securities, where he was a member of the BAS European capital committees and Board, and where he had responsibility for a loan book of $22 Bn+. Before that, he was head of global project and asset based finance and leasing at Morgan Stanley and was a member of the MSIIB Operating Committee. In that capacity, he managed $45+ billion in asset based and structured financings and leasing arrangements, and advised clients in connection with some $30Bn+ of completed mergers and acquisitions transactions, primarily in the cross-border power and energy sector. His background also includes substantial real estate sector-related activity, including a number of real estate portfolio restructurings and redeployments, and co-managing, as Executive Chairman, a $3Bn committed capital leveraged US RMBS fund in 2006-2008. He is a former trustee of American Financial Realty Trust (NYSE: AFR) and currently is a trustee of Armour Residental REIT (NYSE: ARR), the lead independent director of City Financial Investment Company Limited (London) and Chairman of Litchfield Capital Holdings, Inc. He received B.S. (Wharton) and B.A. degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
Chad Burkhardt
Prior to joining Blackpoint Partners, Mr. Burkhardt was a Vice President at D. E. Shaw & Co., a multi-strategy hedge fund based in New York. Mr. Burkhardt oversaw commercial real estate debt acquisitions, which included the purchase of senior and subordinate debt positions, as well as CMBS and REIT bonds. In addition, he was responsible for portfolio management and the disposition of select real estate assets. Prior to D. E. Shaw, Mr. Burkhardt worked at Merrill Lynch & Co. as a Vice President in Global Principal Investments, the group responsible for investing the firm's balance sheet in commercial real estate debt and equity, with a focus on North America. Mr. Burkhardt graduated from Cornell University with a BS in Hotel Administration with a concentration in Real Estate Finance and Management. Mr. Burkhardt is a member of the Commercial Mortgage Securities Association and on the board of directors of NYPEN Real Estate.
Joshua Schwalbe
Joshua Schwalbe has over 10 years of experience in real estate finance and brokerage. Prior to joining Blackpoint Partners, Mr. Schwalbe was a Vice President at Savills LLC, where he focused on debt and equity capital raising transactions and advisory assignments. Before joining Savills, Mr. Schwalbe worked as an Associate Vice President at DTZ Rockwood for 3 years. Mr. Schwalbe has been involved in real estate transactions and advisory assignments in excess of $1.5 billion. Previously, Mr. Schwalbe was an associate at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and then at Credit Suisse First Boston where he worked in the Equity Research department and covered the REIT sector. Mr. Schwalbe graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Economics and History from Brandeis University and holds an M.B.A. with a concentration in Real Estate and Finance from Columbia Business School.
Karel Steiner
Karel Steiner has spent more than 25 years in the commercial construction and real estate development industry with extensive project management experience. With expertise in pricing, scheduling, subcontractor coordination and quality control on major projects and operations in North America along with extensive experience overseas, Mr. Steiner has overseen and directed over $3.5B of construction projects some employing crews of over 1,600 workers. Prior to working with Blackpoint Partners, Mr. Steiner was the Director of Design and Construction for Commonwealth Development Group's Providence Place Mall, a $420 million, 12-story, 4 million SF super regional mall and garage in Providence, Rhode Island. Mr. Steiner was previously a Director and Senior Vice President of a $150 million subsidiary of Fru-Con Construction, an international general contractor (top 10 worldwide), President at both the Franki North America and Cogif (Paris, France) and worked for SAE (Societe Auxilliaire d'Enterprises) on a range of projects in the United States and overseas. Mr. Steiner has a MS and a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Clermont Ferrand, France.
Roberto Reyna
Roberto Reyna has over 17 years of experience in the banking and real estate industries. Mr. Reyna serves as the Executive Vice President of Blackpoint's Puerto Rico Division. Prior to joining Blackpoint, Mr. Reyna served as Senior Vice President at Doral Bank where he oversaw mortgage risk, residential construction, investor relations and financial planning and analysis. Roberto managed financial planning and analysis for Washington Mutual's Commercial Group as its Divisional Finance Officer where he also created and led the strategic development function. Roberto managed the business finance function for both Standard Chartered Bank's and Barclays Capital's Latin America operations. Roberto earned his MBA at the University of Chicago and has both Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Rudy Klotsman
Rudy Klotsman has over 10 years of experience in retail and commercial real estate leasing. His experience includes successful transactions with regional and national chains, including Best Buy, Staples, Starbucks, Tommy Hilfiger, Zara, Bank of America, AT & T, Hermes and Bed Bath & Beyond, among many others. Prior to joining Blackpoint Partners, Mr. Klotsman worked for Ashkenazy Acquisitions Corp. (“AAC”). Mr. Klotsman completed over 200 leasing transactions for AAC where he was the Senior Vice President of Leasing and President of 20-20 Acquisitions. He was responsible for leasing the entire nationwide portfolio of 16 million square feet. His responsibilities at AAC also included overseeing property management, development and tenant management.
